Went to visit Mark in Wakayama on the 27th March - 3rd April. It was the best week we've had in so long. I haven't seen him in 3 months. I think it was the longest we've been apart. It was so nice just beening together and spending quality time together.
Kansai is def. worth visiting. Osaka was a shopping haven. Went on a ferris whilst the sun was setting and the lights were being lit up, the whole town came to live! There were so many things to see...everything was different to the little village that I call home now.
Kyoto was where the old meets the new. Old temples and new bulidings. Went and visited a Zen Garden. It was def. truly inspiring. It was raining on that day as well, so it gave that extra romantic feel to it.
But everywhere we went there were just literally tens and thousands of Omiyage shops(souvernier shops). No matter whether it was at the temple or along the side streets. Everything can be commercialised. The spirit of the temple wasn't authentic anymore. Quite depressing really.
Wakayama is a great prefecture, there are so many things to do there. Shirahama, where the sand is imporeted from good ol' OZ, great onsens, great places to watch sunsets, great food and fabulous JETs...I want to go back!
But, my favourite time with Mark was the many unforgettable sunsets we shared during this amazing week. I miss him dearly...Sorry, being a little romantic.
Which reminds me, I want to recommend a movie for all the ladies out there...go and watch THE NOTEBOOK. It is truly, truly beautiful!
