Yippee! In one week, yours truly will be travelling to China. I'm going to Beijing for 5nights 6days. I can't wait. I'm going to China, I'm going to China. Though I have no idea what Briony and I will be doing there...but we'll have fun nontheless. Def. going to The Great Wall of China. And having Peking Duck...I'm drooling just thinking about it! Will tell you more about it when I come back.
Things are going great here too. I have taken up hip-hop dancing with the Sakura Dance Team in my village. It's so much fun. I love dancing.
School is also going well. The kids are getting more and more familiar with me, so we have a great time in and out of class. Fingers crossed, I'm trying to scam my way to going to Tokyo with the 8th graders for their school trip to Tokyo in January next year. The trip includes skiing, Disneyland and Asakusa (famous tourist hotspot). Hopefully my office will say yes...hehee.
Well, something I found quite disturbing has occurred. In Japan bullying happens quite regularly and it goes unnoticed by the teachers. I was in class today and the teacher walked out for a while, and four boys ganged up on this one boy. It was my 9th grade and the majority of the class are boys.
This boy they picked on is quite strange. He has some weird behaviours...For example, we have school lunch provided for us, and when a student or two are absent the rest of the class can get a share of the left over food, they have to scissors, paper, rock for it. And this kid will always go for extra food, anyways, when he looses and doesn't get another serving he'll throw a tantrum and hit the table or something...There are other times where he'll just burst out screaming...Just some random weird behaviours.
I am sure the teachers notice it, but they just don't do anything about it. The kids are fixated on this boy. I'm sure his life at school can sometimes be miserable. I have tried and asked him what's wrong, but he'll just say nothing with tears in his eyes. All I can do is stand behind him, tell some kids off and tell them to stop it and pat his back, and hopefully let him know that someone does care.
Another thing I don't understand is why and how he got to be the way he is? This boy's father is a teacher. In my opinion, he is a great teacher too. I just wonder sometimes how this boy came to develop his personality the way it is? His father is a teacher, his mother works at the town office. Why does this boy have a violent tendency? I don't know? Sometimes, I just don't get it.
