Only in JAPAN!

I went to a crazy festival on Monday night. This festival was all the way out in Aso, which was a 2 hour drive from where I live. Why did my friends and I make the drive down there, and all the way back on the same night is totally beyond me?! Think it was one of those must do's in Kumamoto. It was a Fire Swinging Festival. Yep, you read it right.
The festival was held outside Aso Shrine. As soon as we got there, we saw the smoke and the fire. Anyone (even little children) can pick up a barrel of hay and just start swing it around?
Not sure why they have this festival, maybe it was to ward off evil, like most things in Asian cultures. It was definitely cool to see. Didn't actually get to swing one of those baby's around. But, just being in that atmosphere was good enough.
Though it was fun, but the negative side to it was that, my eyes stung like crazy, my hair and my clothes stunk. The three of us in my car made my car stink. Yeah, it was an unforgettable experience alright! Check out the photos and you'd see why.

Life everyday to the MAX!

Last night, heard a terrible news at dance practice. One of my friend's husband passed away unexpectedly. It was so terrible. I never have imagined attending a funeral here in Japan (T_T)
My friend Kumi, is a sweet lady, with two beautiful twin girls, who are about to start first grade in April. Her husband was a loving man, who adored the girls. He was only 45. May he rest in peace.

How can you brace yourself for something so tragic as losing a loved one? It sends your world into haywire and it turns everything into panic mode. Kumi is strong though. She has to be for the sake of the children and the parents. The girls knows that something has happened to their father, and they just keep calling out "daddy, daddy"... breaks my heart. The road they have to travel is still so long...why do things like this happen?

The funeral is today. Give them strength and all the love for them to go through this sad and turbulent time.

Two-faced People

My neighbour is a two-faced person. Arghhhh...so frustrating. So the story goes...

On a lovely Saturday evening, Vicky had her first home party with her friends at home. It consisted with a lot of yummy food (pizza, salad, spaghetti, potatoes etc), HOMEMADE takoyaki (octopus balls, lol, sounds disgusting but it was delicious), dessert (mmm~yummy chocolate fondue with lots of strawberries, tropical fruits, biscuits and marshmellows), and beverages (tea and alcohol). The mix of food was great and so was the party itself.

We had so much fun, chatting and taking pictures and just being young! The smokers were not permitted to smoke inside my house, so they were outside. Smokers consisted of 4people only!!! Anyhoo, the party finished at 3am Sunday morning. By that time, everyone was just mellowing and relaxing. So the mood was great. Guess we were a little bit loud when we were saying our goodbyes outside and doing the whole bowing thing and saying our thank you very much...

On Sunday, got up exceptionally early because I had a dance perfromance, so lack of sleep and very tired (not cranky, just sleepy) went to dance. Had a marvellous time there as well. Then in the afternoon, I had to attend this recreation "ground golf" game with the Young People's club, which my neighbour was in. When I got to the venue and saw my neighbour, the first thing I said to her was "I'm sorry, we were to loud last night..."and just apologising profusely. In my mind, I thought if she was pissed off she'd say, "...that's alright, but just keep it down a little bit next time" . But, NO, she turned around and said "...last night you made too much noise, it is a big problem!!!" OMG!!! I beg your pardon?!?!?!

First of all, I thought her and I were friends, you don't speak to friends like that! Her face were contoured with rage and anger, like she really despised me or something. Then to find out that she mentioned it to other friends already...that's just not right >_< So, I was just so not in the mood to play "ground golf" and be around her. Then I didn't turn up to the drinking party afterwards as well. So many people emailed and called to see whether I was alright? I was fine, but just didn't want to be where she was. The tension was just so intense at that moment, I thought I'd give us two some space...*arghhh*
I told one of my friend who's also her friend who was at the party, and we both again apologised about last night through email. Just can't figure out why she was so direct when there were so many roundabout ways to do it??? Oh well. I've been avoiding her and she's been avoiding me.

But, something good came out of it (^_<)v That night, I emailed my 34years old that I was upset, and he called me straight away and asked me to go over to the restaurant where he was having a party, and we had a great chat. So, there's always a positive behind a negative :p

Some more positives, I'm going to Disneyland for the weekend...YAY!!! Really looking forward to overspending and piling up the debts. Last day of work today. Woohoo~~~
